Located between Montréal and Québec City on the banks of the former Champlain Sea, the old industrial city of Shawinigan offers a blend of nature and culture. Set in picturesque natural surroundings, it skirts the Saint-Maurice River—one of Québec’s largest rivers—and borders La Mauricie National Park of Canada. The city offers a wealth of cultural, recreational, and tourism experiences along with facilities equipped with the latest in technology.
Cité de l’énergie features an observation tower, interpretation of industrial history, the new “Hydrogen Race” exhibition, and the colour and light show Kosmogonia. Since 2003, the temporary international gallery of modern art in the historic buildings of aluminum producer Alcan has offered a range of possibilities for event and convention organizers.
