Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions QACP staff hear most often.

Please call us at 1-888-969-1307 or send us an email at if you have any other questions.

Questions :

Q. Can QACP help me to organize a convention?

Yes. The QACP will put you in contact with members in the region you’re interested in. The regional representative will answer your questions and help you organize your convention. There is no charge for this service.

Q. Is there a charge for the services provided by the QACP?
R.  No. All QACP services are provided free of charge for convention organizers.
Q. Does the QACP compile statistics on the convention industry?
R. Yes. The QACP compiles annual statistics based on information collected from our members to provide an overview of the situation in the cities in our network. See the "News" section for the most recent statistics.

If you are interested in the statistics of a particular region, you must send your request directly to the QACP member of that region.

For a more general overview, check the statistics on these sites:
This site, which specializes in strategic tourism monitoring, offers Quebec companies and tourist organizations analysis and strategic information services designed to strengthen the industry’s competitive position and help participants adapt to changes in the field. The network is run by the Chaire de Tourisme and the École des sciences de la gestion at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
The UQAM chair in tourism has a mandate to contribute to the expansion and influence of the Quebec tourist industry through research, the distribution of information and the development of training. See the “Search activities” tab for studies on the subject.
This is the official Quebec government tourist site, with all sorts of helpful information.

Q. Does the QACP have a list of all the conventions taking place in Quebec?
R. The QACP does not compile this kind of list because it is not within our mandate. In any case, that would be a gigantic task, as there are so many events held each year in Quebec. Most of the websites for large convention centres in Quebec put out a list of upcoming activities. The site also lists many events. (French only)
Q. Are there any particular courses you should take to get a job in the convention industry?

There are many ways to get training in the convention industry at the college or university level. Visit the Quebec Tourism Human Resource Council (CQRHT) site for job descriptions in our sector, which is often associated with the tourist sector. The Futurs travailleurs of the site describes various jobs, the skills required and the training needed. (French only)

Q. Does the QACP offer training?

The QACP does not take on trainees. However, members might be interested in taking on a student for an advanced training course. If you are interested in training, please send your request directly to a QACP member.
