$9 million invested in the new Business and Convention Centre

$9 million invested in the new Business and Convention Centre

August 29, 2017

After a long wait, Tourisme Région Thetford is overjoyed with the announcement made today for the start of construction work on the new Business and Convention Centre for the Thetford region. With a construction budget of $9 million, the centre should welcome its first clients at the end of June 2018.

With a surface area of 32,000 ft2 and a capacity of between 10 and 600 people, the Business and Convention Centre's rooms are specially configured for conventions, exhibits, banquets, meetings, shows, marriage receptions, anniversaries, graduation balls, dances, private office parties or receptions during the Christmas holiday period.

For the general manager of the Société de Développement Économique de la Région de Thetford and Tourisme Région Thetford, Mr. Luc Rémillard, the centre will meet both local and regional needs but also provincial and even Canadian convention needs.

Additionally, the Business and Convention Centre is part of a global vision for development of the region, both for local infrastructure development and its contribution to the tourism development strategy, continued Mr. Rémillard. "This major addition will increase the tourism offer in the Thetford region, a destination increasingly sought out by tourists", he added.

Mr. Rémillard also announced that Tourisme Région Thetford is now a member of the Quebec Association of Convention Professionals (QACP). With 35 destinations found in 17 of Quebec's 22 tourist regions, the QACP is a network of qualified organisations and actors that have deep knowledge of the convention market, hotel infrastructure and tourist attractions in their respective regions.

The modern infrastructure associated with the Business and Convention Centre will be added to the new four-star hotel complex La Cache du Domaine, which was officially inaugurated in July 2016. With its modern lodging and restaurant services, which brings combines elegance and comfort for leisure and business tourists, La Cache du Domaine is located a few short steps from downtown Thetford in the heart of Domaine Option Nature.
