A new accessible hotel in the Centre-du-Québec

A new accessible hotel in the Centre-du-Québec

June 1, 2016
The Grand TIMES Hotel Drummondville opens its doors to handicapped persons

In the context of the 20th edition of the Quebec Week of the Disabled, which will take place between June 1st and 7th, 2016, The Grand TIMES Hotel Drummondville is proud to contribute to building a more inclusive society.

The hotel in the heart of Drummondville, which has only been open since February 29, 2016, offers 14 adapted rooms as well as meetings spaces that are fully accessible with private bathrooms.

“The adapted rooms are perfect for handicapped people, as they are larger, light switches are located lower on the walls and the closet hangers adjust to their height,” indicated Francis Hince, Senior Manager of the hotel.

Strategically linked to the new CentrExpo Cogeco conference centre, the Grand TIMES Hotel Drummondville is also accessible to handicapped persons by using the electric elevator for wheelchairs located near the indoor walkway on the 3rd floor.

The Grand TIMES Hotel Drummondville was visited by Mr. Daniel Mailhot, Manager of the Association des personnes handicapées de Drummond, who made the following statement about the hotel’s accessibility:

“It is not very often that hotels respect the minimum number of rooms required by law, as the Drummondville TIMES did. Hotels often have halls that are wide enough for wheelchairs, but what is more important is access to the room and the bathroom. At the TIMES hotel, the bottom of sinks are unobstructed and objects are at a sufficient height. Also, automatic doors at the entrances in the lobby and the elevators make the hotel a great place to hold inclusive meetings.”

The Grand TIMES Hotel – Drummondville, a Quebec based company inspired by the New York lifestyle, is one of the four TIMES hotels to offer rooms for handicapped persons as well as accessible meeting rooms and non-smoking establishments. The other hotels are located near the Quebec City airport, in the Galeries de la Capitale and on the shores of the Lac des Nations in Sherbrooke.
