A Sheraton in Saint-Hyacinthe

A Sheraton in Saint-Hyacinthe

September 1, 2016
The president of the Centres d’Achats Beauward, Mr. Marc Bibeau, is happy to announce that his company has concluded an agreement with the hotel group Starwood Hotels & Resorts, which will pave the way for the arrival of a Sheraton® hotel in Saint-Hyacinthe. This new Sheraton, with more than two hundred rooms, will be added to the future conference centre that the City of Saint-Hyacinthe will build, as well as being located near the exhibition and expo installations at Espace Saint-Hyacinthe. This will create a unique environment in Quebec for business tourism.

For Mr. Bibeau, the franchise agreement concluded with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, for a minimum period of 20 years, will ensure a competitive position for Saint-Hyacinthe. In effect, Starwood Hotels & Resorts has more than 1,300 properties in about one hundred countries. Its client loyalty program, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG®), is a world leader in the hotel industry. Starwood Hotels & Resorts owns 11 brands, including Sheraton®. In operation since 1937, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts is the most recognised Starwood Hotels & Resorts brand. It offers its clients a unique and exceptional experience throughout its 440 hotels across 72 countries. “Our association with this world high class hotel giant and the construction of a new Sheraton by Beauward will allow Saint-Hyacinthe to stand out in a very competitive business tourism market. The city can now compete with other large North American cities and ensure considerable economic impacts for the whole region”, affirmed Mr. Bibeau.

For the Beauward project director, Mr. André Fortin, Vice President of Development, the value added by the Sheraton signature provides great credibility to the project. “The high quality standards of the brand and its international renown will allow us to complete an ambitious project which will meet our goals and those of Maskoutains.”

Here are the main characteristics of the hotel project:

• 205 rooms, including 177 rooms with more surface area than standard rooms, as well as 28 suites;

• Larger windows offering exceptional natural lighting;

• Indoor parking, with 190 spots, and 700 outdoor parking spaces for hotel and conference centre users;

• Two floors directly linked to the municipal Saint-Hyacinthe Conference Centre and to Galeries St-Hyacinthe, which will include 6 meeting rooms with a combined 4,000 square feet of space;

• An indoor pool with gym;

• A health centre and an adjoining outdoor terrace;

• The 17th and last floor of the hotel will have a salon/lounge with a 1,800 square foot outdoor terrace and presidential suite including private terraces.

The construction work has been contracted to the company Divco. They started work in August of 2016 and should complete it by the end of 2017. The company Les Centres d’Achats Beauward is been present in Saint-Hyacinthe since the start of the 1970s. Owners of the Galeries Saint-Hyacinthe, over the years the company has invested millions of dollars in various commercial projects that has allowed them to improve client experience and contribute to the economic dynamism of this strategic sector for the city. With the construction of a high class hotel project worth tens of millions of dollars, Beauward will make one of the largest private investments in Saint-Hyacinthe over the past several years. “This project will allow Saint-Hyacinthe to reposition itself in the tourism market, repatriate business clients and create more business for regional merchants. This project once again highlights our desire to actively contribute to the economic vitality of Saint-Hyacinthe and shows the trust we have in the potential of the region’s community”, concluded Mr. Bibeau.
