Announcement of the 2018 G-7 Meeting to be held in Charlevoix - An exceptional showcase for the region!

Announcement of the 2018 G-7 Meeting to be held in Charlevoix - An exceptional showcase for the region!

May 30, 2017
In 2018, the eyes of the whole world will turn to Charlevoix. Charlevoix Tourism welcomes the announcement made by the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, confirming that the next G-7 Meeting will be held in La Malbaie. This event, which generates important media impact, will be etched forever in our minds as one of the major gatherings that contributed to Charlevoix's greater presence on international marketplaces.

With a more than 2-century old tradition of hospitality, La Malbaie is considered to be one of Canada's main cradles for vacationing. It is important to note the words of the Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, who, during the press conference announcing the event last Saturday, praised the region, which, according to him, will enhance the cultural and linguistic diversity, its artistic talents, culinary expertise and capacity for innovation. Nestled between river and mountains, Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu, a stately hotel combining the quiet charm of nature with the elegance of a world class resort, will offer a unique setting to our planet's leaders.

Charlevoix's splendid landscapes will surely shine forth like a splendid post card during the event. "I am delighted with hosting the G-7 Meeting in our region. Our organization will do its utmost to ensure this exceptional showcase serves as a platform to promote Charlevoix as a tourist destination of international stature. In my name and on behalf of Charlevoix Tourism's Board of Directors, I thank the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, for selecting our region as the venue of the next G-7 Meeting" mentioned Éric Desgagné, Chairman of Charlevoix Tourism's Board of Directors.
