Major Tourism Investments in Carleton-sur-Mer

Major Tourism Investments in Carleton-sur-Mer

March 5, 2018
During a press conference held at the Hostellerie Baie Bleue in Carleton-sur-Mer Friday, March 2nd, the owners announced major investments with the goal of meeting new market trends and the growing needs of their clients, both in the tourism and business sectors.

Firstly, the Hostellerie Baie Bleue announced the acquisition of the Chalets de la Baie (located on the route du Quai in Carleton-sur-Mer). Renovations of the 6 chalets will be completed over the coming months, before the start of the next tourist season.

Then, to meet the growing popularity of the Pub St-Joseph in Carleton-sur-Mer, the organisation will proceed with the expansion and modernisation of the establishment, which will allow it to host 120 people inside as well as adding and new outdoor terrace (on the 2nd floor) which will host 50 additional people. The project will also allow for the expansion of the kitchen and the purchase of equipment and furnishings for the new seating areas. A new table d'hôte will be offered year-round to Pub St-Joseph clients which will highlight regional Gaspe products. These significant changes will mark the start of a new concept and the restaurant will become the "Pub St-Joseph Signature".

Part of a development strategy focusing on new lodging and restaurant opportunities, these two projects will total $1 million in investments.

Finally, the owners of Hostellerie Baie Bleue also won the public tender to purchase the Motel Le Fani. They now have several options, and over the coming months they will take the time to analyse the different lodging opportunities that may be possible. The acquisition of the Chalets de la Baie and the Motel Le Fani will give the organisation the ability to prepare a 5-year investment plan to diversify their lodging offer and welcome a wider range of clients, explained Mr. Stéphane Boudreau, co-owner and president and general manager of Hostellerie Baie Bleue.

Since the purchase of Hostellerie Baie Bleue in 2007, more than $4 million has been invested in the renovation of the hotel, the improvement of infrastructure and the opening of 3 Pub St-Josephs in Carleton-sur- Mer, Bonaventure and Caraquet.
